We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Senior Backend Platform Engineer who loves creating outstanding technical solutions, and enjoys collaborating with a diverse, motivated team!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Develop the core system of the number 1 printing app in the world, written in Scala, which enables our customers to create personalized print products with minimal effort

• Improve our architecture to help us scale with the growing demand

• Proactively identify possible performance bottlenecks and come up with creative solutions together with your team

• Give and receive feedback, criticize constructively and foster an environment for constant improvement

• Share your expertise as a Senior Backend Platform Engineer with the Journi Team

YOUR BAG OF TRICKS

• 7+ years of development experience developing Backend applications (links to projects or GitHub are welcome!)

• Strong knowledge in any JVM based language (Such as Scala OR Kotlin OR Java . If you do not have experience with Scala: You should be willing and interested in learning Scala)

• You have the urge to tackle technical debt heads on and enjoy diving into complex performance investigations

• Experience working with any SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB)

• Experience working with any NoSQL database (AWS DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB)

• Experience working with AWS Cloud-based technologies (S3, SQS, ECS, ECR, SES, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, ElasticCache, CloudFront)

• You know how to write automated unit tests with their respective mocks

• You have strong communication, documentation and collaboration skills

• You are a self-starter with a strong ‘hands-on’ mentality & passion for solving problems

• Experience in designing REST APIs

• You work efficiently, prioritize workloads, and meet critical project deadlines

• You are constantly learning, asking for feedback, and self-motivated

• You are permitted to work in the EU/Austria (OR have a degree in Computer Science which is required to apply for an Austrian work permit)

• You are able to relocate to / based in Vienna - the world’s most liveable city!

NICE TO HAVE (BUT NOT REQUIRED!)

• Experience with migrations from monolith to microservice infrastructure

• Experience with applying security best practices to protect users data and the entire application landscape

• CI/CD experience with GitLab and automating workflows

• Interested in working with image processing algorithms
